WELCOME TO INDIEMODE.CO.ZA

It’s been hard work to get South Africa’s hottest new online store off the ground. But we’ve done it and we’re exceptionally proud of our beautiful creation. South Africans can now finally have easy access to locally-designed fashion at their fingertips.

The majority of items on our site are designed and made within South Africa and we intend to keep it that way! Indiemode strives to be a store for South Africans, by South Africans. We’re pleased to say that we have launched with 13 local designers on board with the hopes of expanding and empowering more local designers by showcasing their products.

When approached by one of my team members about this awesome concept, I felt it was exactly what South Africa needed. I’m of British origin and after spending some time in South Africa it was clear to see just how proud people are of their country. Indiemode will give fashion designers a chance to finally showcase their work online. As managing director of the business my role is to ensure that the site makes fashion designers excited to promote their products and that it simultaneously makes consumers proud when purchasing or browsing through the products made by some of the finest designers South Africa has to offer.

It’s been an honour working on such a fantastic project with some very talented and hardworking people. I have personally worked on the site structure, keyword analysis, promotion of the daily competition, helped with finding a replacement for the secure shopping cart, set up Adwords campaigns and am researching web marketing for when the site is live. Work begins in earnest for me when the site goes live. Upward and onward people.

Working on Indiemode has been an awesome experience and a project I won’t forget. I’ve learnt so much (including how to keep myself awake when my eyes just want to close from exhaustion). I’ve also learnt that table tennis at 2 in the morning with other team members is the funniest thing ever. But most of all, I’ve learnt that anything can be done with this amazingly awesome team that I work with. I have never come across a more dedicated and hardworking bunch of people before and I’m really proud to be a part of it.

My role as Graphic Designer entails ensuring the consistency of designs on the web, on social media platforms and other marketing channels. I also helped out at photo-shoots and edited photos to be displayed on the site. Working on Indiemode was tough at times with very challenging deadlines, but the whole process has been extremely fulfilling. I am grateful to be part of such a unique local project and to be working alongside a team of highly passionate people.
